This was our last stop on our California trip. Of the 5 Texas state parks we stayed in on this trip, this is the one I would most like to go back to. The campground for rv's is small, but all the sites are full hook up and pull through. Do not go exploring with the rv attached to the vehicle, the non rv roads are narrow with low trees and do not follow roads that say no trailers, you won't be able to turn around. (We did not find this out the hard way, we explored after we set up camp.) There is a road in the park that goes around a beautiful lake with rocky bluffs and lots of trails to explore. There is a swimming area and fishing area with cabins on the lake that offers wonderful views of sunset. There is no direct view of sunrise though. There are lots of birds. The trail I walked was just off the tent loop. There was a lot of juniper on the trail so it looked like it was from another world. I would really like to walk this trail when it was foggy. We went out to eat in town and found Meridian to be really cute. I forgot the name of the restaurant and am not going to try to find it. It was just off the square very near the library. I would have like to explore a bit more of the town, but all the stores closed at 5pm. Meridian is one of the places I would like to visit again, so maybe I will get the chance. It is not far from home.
