Dream Catcher RV Park

Our third day on the road saw us driving through west Texas and eastern New Mexico. This was our longest drive day. There is not a lot of places to stay and west Texas parks were full because New Mexico parks were closed to nonresidents. On our drive, we saw a lot of fields being harvested. There was a lot of cotton and nut trees and something that looked like corn, but wasn't planted in rows. I wish farms would have signs up for what they are growing.  There were a lot of pastures filled with goats and sheep. Right over the New Mexico border there are miles of cattle feed yards. They clean the manure with bulldozers. El Paso wasn't as bad as I expected. The roads were well marked, but it wasn't a place I wanted to spend a lot of time in either. Texas rest stops seem to be in better shape and better planned out than the few we stopped at in New Mexico. We saw our first 100 degree temperatures on this drive so walking the dogs was done carefully. The rest stops were gravel with little shade and sandsburrs. There is a lot of train and truck traffic in this part of the country.

We stayed at Dreamcatcher RV park in Deming New Mexico. We also stayed at this park on our return trip. The park is a big gravel lot with a shade tree for each site. It is full hook up. Long term campers have back in sites against a field with a view of the mountains. Short term campers have pull through sites in the center. There is a club house and office I didn't go in. The bathroom was the best I have seen. It was large, well decorated, clean, with hot full pressure showers. There was a laundry room we didn't go in. The dog park was large with shade trees and grass. My dogs loved having a place to run off leash for a change. We saw our first desert sunrise here, which was beautiful. We also got our jackets out for the first time here. New Mexico was a bit chilly, but nice. The people in the RV park were friendly and helpful. We had the same site both times and nice neighbors.
